Nine sophomore students were recently selected to attend the Alamo Academies for next school year. The Alamo Academies are college programs in the fields of engineering, manufacturing, diesel technology, health science, aeronautics, and information technology. To be admitted to the academies, students must complete an application process and testing that is competitive. The Academy programs are offered to all high school students in the Alamo area which includes Atascosa, Bexar, and Comal counties. Returning next year will be 3 second year students for a total of 12 JHS Academy students. They will attend college on either the San Antonio College Campus or the St. Philips College campus for half their school day and then return to the high school to complete their other classes.
We are very proud of these students! Not pictured are juniors Abby Valdez, Dylan Crick, America Duc Van Lazaro and sophomore Mario Venegas. Pictured are sophomores Bryce Harter, Aric Querner, Robert Coffey, Steven Escalante, Justin Matocha, Marcos Galindo, Michael Handy and Andrea Torres.
