Congratulations to every single lifter that competed at the AMC Special Olympic Powerlifting Meet!!!
On November 12th, 90 lifters from four different school districts participated in the meet, ages ranging from 12 to 18 years old. This event was a local Special Olympics meet conducted by the Atascosa-McMullen Cooperative and hosted by Jourdanton ISD.
The day was full of positive vibes and joyful emotions as the athletes pushed themselves on a stage that few dare to step on. The lifters performed the Bench Press and Deadlift in front of a judge and two hundred spectators, and exuded pride and triumph as they locked out the weight and heard the roar of applause.
A special thank you to the meet sponsors, without whom the amenities of this event would not have been possible: Peeler Ranch, Chile Bandera, Texas Strength Systems, Memories On Main, The Feed Pen, and Terri Martin. Additionally, thank you to the students who helped spot and load and the teachers who took the day to help make this first event of its kind at Jourdanton possible.
