5th Grade Math Visits High School Math
Ms. Escobar took one of her fifth-grade math classes to one of Mrs. Vyvlecka's math class for a fun lesson on imaginary or radical numbers. The fifth-grade students were paired with a high school student so they could work out the problems together. Ms. Escobar was paired with Garrison Collins and he was a great teacher as this math was far beyond Ms. Escobar's realm. Mrs. Vyvlecka taught a lesson on square roots and radical numbers and then the students worked together to solve problems. The fifth graders had a blast, and the high students were so kind, helpful, and respectful! Mrs. Vyvlecka and I enjoyed seeing the collaboration between the classes.

Jourdanton Architectural Design students were invited to participate in the HEB Engineering Summit. Students had an opportunity to compete against other schools that required team work, communication, and creativity to complete challenges. Students were required to build a bridge to be tested under weight stress, a mouse trap car to race against the other schools, and a catapult designed for accuracy and distance. Students were also treated to a presentation about career opportunities within HEB in the areas of engineering and programs designed to help students get the training and experience. Students were given an opportunity to meet and network with current engineers from across HEB.

Please help support your JHS Cheerleaders by spreading the word and buying a serving or two at our BBQ plate sale on 06/15/2024.
We will also have a bake sale and silent auction that day as well.
Please see Mrs. Portis at the High School office or any HS Cheerleader for tickets. They are $12 each.

The end of the school year is almost here. Please check on student account balances as there will be no charging allowing during the month of May. It is recommended to create an account through My School Bucks located on the JISD district homepage. By doing so, you can view balances and set up to receive notifications when an account gets to a certain amount. Please note that online payments through My School Bucks may post immediately or may take up to 2 days to post. We must go by the balance in the account at the time of meal service. Any money left in student accounts will roll over to the next school year. If your child / children will not attend Jourdanton ISD next year, please let us know before the year ends and we can mail your refund. Call the JISD Food Service Department at (830) 769-3548 x2145 if you have any questions. Thank you and have a great day.
