During orientation, we will preview the expectations and changes for the 24-25 school year, and you can pick up your schedule. If you are driving to school, you will be able to pay $5 for your parking permit. (See previous post with QR code)

If your HS student is parking on campus this upcoming school year, select the link or scan the QR code to register for a parking permit. Parking permits will be available for pick up during grade-level orientation the first week of August. Parking permits are $5 and can be paid for at orientation. Parking spots will be assigned by the campus, starting with 12th grade.

JHS Class of 2024 graduation is one week from today, Friday, May 24 at 7:30 in Indian Stadium.

Attention JHS. Due to a schedule conflict, the Academic Awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 5:30 PM in the HS Cafeteria.
At the JHS Academic Award event, May 11, 6:00 pm, seniors receiving scholarships will be announced. The high school has been notified about some scholarship recipients and these will be announced. Students have received notifications from colleges and other organizations that the high school does not know about. Date Correction! The high school has planned college visits for sophomores for Tuesday, APRIL 25. Students will get to go to San Antonio College, Coastal Bend College in Beeville, or St. Philips College Southwest campus. The will get to tour the campuses and the facilities to see firsthand the programs available. They will be fed lunch on location and return to school around 1:00 pm. Students received permission slips for these trips Friday and will be given them again today, Monday. These need to be returned tomorrow as they board the bus.

Please, remember that at the Award Ceremony at the end of the year, scholarship awards will be announced. Jourdanton High School welcomed a representative from the United States Coast Guard yesterday. He visited with the Culinary Arts classes where students got to hear about careers in culinary available in the Coast Guard. Students found out that the certifications they earn while taking culinary arts in high school will benefit them thousands of dollars if they chose to purse a career in the field through the Coast Guard. Additionally, training and education in the Coast Guard while enlisted can result even in a Bachelor's of Science degree. Just another day at JHS of sharing opportunities to students so they can make great choices for their futures!
What a great week for seniors at JHS! English 4 classes met in the lab to practice and discuss filling out job applications, check on the status of their FAFSA and receive help with it if needed, as well as look at local scholarships and have assistance filling them out, too. These lessons will continue throughout the upcoming weeks. Lots of things to already celebrate with the class of 2023 !

The Scholarship Web Page has been updated with the first local scholarship of the year! The Atascosa-McMullen Retired School Personnel Organization has made their scholarship available early this year. Students planning to major in Education, which includes Coaching, should complete this application.
Additionally - the Scholarship Reporting Portal is now available. All students who are given scholarships are encouraged to share their good news by reporting it through the link provided. Seniors will be working on scholarship materials again in the career lab next week. They will be guided through organizing the materials needed to be able to easily apply for scholarships in the spring. Additionally, they will review personal skills and personality traits and apply them to career options. As the semester ends they will take home with them food for thought and peace of mind that they are on track for graduation!
