This Spring the ECC and Elementary took part in the Kids Heart Challenge and raised 20,716 dollars. This fundraiser is put on by the American Heart Association and Jourdanton has been taking part to raise funds for well over a decade.
This year we gave the students incentives for reaching fundraising goals. Pictured above are the Coaches and Principals being soaked by water squirters and students who raised over $250 got to "Color Blast" the coaches.

5th Grade Math Visits High School Math
Ms. Escobar took one of her fifth-grade math classes to one of Mrs. Vyvlecka's math class for a fun lesson on imaginary or radical numbers. The fifth-grade students were paired with a high school student so they could work out the problems together. Ms. Escobar was paired with Garrison Collins and he was a great teacher as this math was far beyond Ms. Escobar's realm. Mrs. Vyvlecka taught a lesson on square roots and radical numbers and then the students worked together to solve problems. The fifth graders had a blast, and the high students were so kind, helpful, and respectful! Mrs. Vyvlecka and I enjoyed seeing the collaboration between the classes.

Jourdanton Architectural Design students were invited to participate in the HEB Engineering Summit. Students had an opportunity to compete against other schools that required team work, communication, and creativity to complete challenges. Students were required to build a bridge to be tested under weight stress, a mouse trap car to race against the other schools, and a catapult designed for accuracy and distance. Students were also treated to a presentation about career opportunities within HEB in the areas of engineering and programs designed to help students get the training and experience. Students were given an opportunity to meet and network with current engineers from across HEB.
